KWVR Diesel Gala 2011 21.5.11

The annual pilgrimage to Keighley and Worth Valley Railway came around again. Last year I had missed it due to it being held on the same weekend as Download Festival at Donington, so this year I was going to make the most of it. It's a great event, even if your not a train buff -  as there's plenty to see and do for all the family.

Here's a few pic's of the days festivities.
 D0226 'Vulcan' at Keighley...
 Keighley Station...
 D0226 rattles out of Keighley...
Awaiting the Grid arrival at Ingrow West...
Visiting loco's 56311 and the Deltic - 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier'...
On board, arriving back into Keighley...
A quick snap of 56311 with KWVR's very own 20031...
 55019 at Keighley...
56311 and 20031 at Oxenhope...
55019 clagging out of Ingrow West...
Another visitor to the line, D6729 rolls into Ingrow West...
D6729 behind KWVR's own 25059 stand next to visitor 47715...
 47715 on the move...
 47715, and Ilkley Moor behind...
 55019 descends into Keighley...
 20031 takes central stage...
After taking the Deltic hauled service back up the line, we got out at Haworth for a browse...
 Haworth Station...
 47715 departs Keighley...
Back out at Ingrow West, looking towards a distant Ilkley Moor...
20031 arrives to take us back to Keighley...
And it's the turn of the visiting Deltic to take us all the way to the end of the line at Oxenhope...
 At Oxenhope...
 Visiting Class 37 -  D6700 hooked up to 55019...
After being hauled by the two impressive loco's, the Deltic was uncoupled at Haworth yard...
A great day out, I would highly recommend it. The restaurant car has an excellent bar aboard, with a variety of local real ales. And don't forget the Fish and Chip shop at Haworth opposite the station too!

I do like a Black 5, massive things, great bit of engineering. They have got one sat in a shed in Haworth I believe. The Autumn Steam Gala is on - 7th, 8th & 9th October 2011 be sure to see the thing on duty over that weekend!
